Dr. Eugene Lipov

It began with an urgent request from my healthcare client to optimize his YouTube channel. Dr. Eugene Lipov, a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician, is a pioneer in the treatment of post-traumatic stress (PTS). Though not a psychiatrist, his work bridges the gap between medical and mental health care, with a focus on treating the physiological effects of trauma.

Over the years, Dr. Lipov developed a groundbreaking theory on the use of the stellate ganglion block (SGB) to treat PTS. While this procedure, which involves an injection into a cluster of nerves in the neck, has been FDA-approved since the 1950s for other uses, the medical community has been slow to adopt it as a standard treatment for PTS. However, more than 85% of PTS survivors experience immediate relief, and Dr. Lipov has continued to document and refine the procedure since he first performed it in 2006.

More about Dr. Eugene Lipov

Dr. Lipov’s work extends beyond his medical practice. He’s an advocate for reclassifying PTSD as PTSI (Post-Traumatic Stress Injury) and frequently appears in the media to discuss the biological causes and treatment of severe trauma. He has testified before the U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs and collaborated with neuroscientists to deepen the understanding of the physiological changes behind PTS. His research has been widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

In sum, Dr. Lipov can be described as a physician, an advocate, accomplished author (currently writing his third book), public speaker, podcaster, and innovator. If you continue reading, you’ll learn how my work has served each of his occupations, except for his medical practice.

Crash course: Lipov 101

I first connected with Dr. Lipov in March 2023, introduced by a mutual colleague handling his publicity. At the time, Dr. Lipov was preparing for the release of his book, The Invisible Machine (April 11, 2023), and had just launched a YouTube channel featuring 53 videos, most of which lacked optimized titles and descriptions.

The task was clear: optimize the YouTube channel as soon as possible to support the upcoming book release and media coverage. Within four days, I had:

watched all 53 videos;
identified relevant keywords for SEO optimization;
researched Dr. Lipov’s career to provide accurate, concise descriptions;
edited materials from two publicity agencies to create on-brand video summaries;
designed a consistent video thumbnail template;
organized video content into playlists based on thematic relevance.

The process gave me an in-depth understanding of Dr. Lipov’s work and laid the groundwork for future marketing efforts as new content emerged around the book launch.
