It began with an urgent request from my healthcare client to optimize his YouTube channel. Dr. Eugene Lipov, a board-certified anesthesiologist and pain physician, is a pioneer in the treatment of post-traumatic stress (PTS). Though not a psychiatrist, his work bridges the gap between medical and mental health care, with a focus on treating the physiological effects of trauma.
Over the years, Dr. Lipov developed a groundbreaking theory on the use of the stellate ganglion block (SGB) to treat PTS. While this procedure, which involves an injection into a cluster of nerves in the neck, has been FDA-approved since the 1950s for other uses, the medical community has been slow to adopt it as a standard treatment for PTS. However, more than 85% of PTS survivors experience immediate relief, and Dr. Lipov has continued to document and refine the procedure since he first performed it in 2006.
