How I Help

Communications problems rarely stay in one lane.

By Mark Gentile

A website issue may really be a messaging issue. A search problem may point to weak content. A new campaign may need writing, design, email, web updates, social content, video — or several of those working together.

That is usually where I’m most useful.

I work with small and mid-size organizations that need someone who can step into an evolving situation, understand what is actually needed, connect the pieces, and carry the work from recommendation through execution.

My background spans content, design, web, search, email, social, motion/video, and digital strategy. I don’t approach those as isolated services. I use them as tools for solving the larger communications problem.

Clarify the Message

Make the communication clearer before making more of it.

Sometimes the problem is not a lack of content. It is that the message, structure, or priorities are unclear.

I help organizations make sense of what they are trying to communicate, who needs to hear it, and how information should be organized across pages, campaigns, and channels.

This can include:

  • messaging and positioning
  • website and content architecture

  • writing and editing

  • service and product-page content

  • editorial planning

  • simplifying complex or technical material

  • turning scattered source material into usable communications

A large part of my work involves translating between worlds — technical and non-technical, clinical and public-facing, strategic and practical — so the finished communication makes sense to the people it is intended to reach.

Strengthen the Digital Presence

Improve the places where people encounter your organization online.

A website can look fine and still create friction. Content can exist without being easy to find. Search visibility can suffer because of weak structure, technical problems, or pages that simply do not answer the right questions.

I look at the digital presence as a connected system rather than separating design, content, search, usability, and technical health.

Depending on the situation, that may include:

  • website design or redesign

  • WordPress development and improvement

  • content restructuring

  • search optimization

  • Search Console and analytics review

  • performance and usability improvements

  • technical troubleshooting
  • multilingual publishing
  • security and maintenance issues
  • landing pages and campaign experiences

The goal is not to add technology for its own sake. It is to make the digital experience clearer, healthier, easier to maintain, and more useful to the people it serves.

Connect the Communications

Make separate channels feel like one organization speaking.

Organizations often produce newsletters, social posts, print pieces, videos, web updates, and campaign materials independently. Over time, the result can become fragmented — visually, editorially, or strategically.

I help connect those pieces.

That may mean developing one campaign across multiple channels, creating repeatable content systems, or simply making sure that the website, email, social, print, and video work reinforce one another rather than compete for attention.

My work can include:

  • campaign development
  • email and newsletters
  • social content
  • print and collateral
  • motion graphics and video
  • event communications
  • editorial storytelling
  • cross-channel creative direction
  • visual and messaging consistency

The medium may change. The communication should still feel connected.

Ongoing Creative + Digital Partnership

Continuity when you need more than project-by-project help.

Some organizations do not need another full-time position. They need an experienced outside partner who knows the organization, understands the history, can spot what needs attention, and can move between strategy and execution as priorities change.

A number of my client relationships have evolved this way.

I may begin with a website, a campaign, an SEO issue, or a piece of design work. As I learn the organization, the role often expands — because communications problems rarely stay confined to the project that started the relationship.

Ongoing support can include:

  • regular communications and creative guidance
  • web and content stewardship
  • campaign planning and execution
  • search and performance review
  • editorial and visual support
  • coordination with other vendors or specialists
  • prioritizing what actually needs attention
  • hands-on implementation when something needs to get done

When outside expertise is useful, I’m also comfortable collaborating with developers, writers, photographers, media specialists, or other partners while remaining a consistent point of contact.

The arrangement can be structured as a retainer, recurring consulting relationship, or flexible ongoing support depending on the organization and workload.

Who I Work With

I work primarily with small-midsize organizations and independent professionals that need experienced communications judgment without building an internal team for every specialty.

That has included:

  • Professional practices and healthcare organizations

  • Founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses

  • Nonprofits and mission-driven organizations

  • Real estate and property-related businesses

  • Food and hospitality brands

  • B2B and professional-service companies

  • Fitness studios & personal training professionals

The industries vary. The situations often have something in common: the organization has grown, changed, accumulated communications needs, or reached a point where the pieces no longer fit together as well as they should.

That is usually a good time for me to come in.

One connected approach

You may already know exactly what you need. Or you may simply know that something is not working as well as it should.

Either is a reasonable place to start.

I can help identify the issue, determine what deserves attention, and handle the work that follows — without forcing the problem into one discipline before we understand it.
